The cranberries have been harvested, and it is a bumper year. This means fall is over and the November rains and winds are here.
It was a cold rainy day yesterday. It had rained hard in the afternoon. As soon as the rain slowed, I went for a walk along the dykes.
The light was beautiful. The sun came out low on the horizon, and illuminated the cloud enacsed fields. Glorious.

Cranberry Harvest Time

At the farm, they have begun to harvest the cranberries, It is like living in the middle of an island (of course we are on an island), but now it is a much smaller one with all the fields flooded.
In fact, I think the eagles were pretty desperate for food, because they hunted all the herons this year.

Fall at the farm

Cranberry season is happening. A sure sign that winter is not too far away. So far the weather has been very kind. Lots of sunny days and not too much wind. Best of all, there have been very few frosts. If you are knee deep in a flooded field, you can come to appreciate how depressing it is to break the ice on the water before you jump in.
